Old Communication Means and New Communication Means

I'm supposed to take part in Japan-German-society to discuss about " Old Communication Means & New Communications Means" next month.
I have written key words for this theme.
Today I'd like to focus on an old telephone and a new cell phone.
First, a black rotary dial telephone in my childhood. Our house was equipped with this telephone when I was a pupil at elementary school.
For the most part my father used the phone. Especially before the proffessors' meeting he talked with his fellow professors for a long time. He wanted to discuss about agenda with them beforehand and how to persuade other professors of different opinions. My mother was angry at him, because she was unable to call her sister in Kyoto.
I remember vividly our telephone number, that is 311-8114. The former user was a Japanese chess champion, Mr. Masuda. We received phone calls from his acquaintances frequently. They'd say, "Is this Mr. Masuda's residence?" I was on the phone and answered, "Sorry, wrong number."
As for me, I used the phone to make an appointment with my elementary school friends.
I talked with Tamura-kun, the son of Tamura Taijiro. I asked him if he could go with me to Ameya-Yokocho. Suddenly he dropped his voice and told me that he would think it over.
Ten minutes later the telephone rang. Tamura-kuns mother was at the end of the line. She said. "I wouldn't make my son go to Ameya-Yokocho, such an indecent place where nasty boys hang around!!" Then she hung up. I had to giggle and said to myself, "Imagine that your husband writes so many fucking porno novels. You're not justified in saying that Ameya-Yokocho bad boys' town!"
As a result I went to the town alone and bought a toy gun with a gun belt like cow boys.
Next, cell phone.
As I retired from a company earlier than usual, my wife bought me a cell phone.
I depended on unemployment insurance for a while. I attended several job-searching seminars.
There I got to know that owing a cell phone is a must. Once you apply for a company, a personnel manager  would call you about the interview's results at any moment. The house phone will not do. I have to be available wherever I am.
Now I am allowed to use this cell phone only to call my wife. When I want to call my friends, she lends me her cell phone. She contracts her  docomo cell phone, NTT house phone and NTT Intenet lines all together. Even if she calls from her cell phone 1000 times, it costs her only 2000 Yen a month,
By the way I have never texted my wife. It's very troublesome to text my wife as I don't know how to push the buttons on the cell phone. I am rather at home writing email on my computer..
